Interview:
MDSS: First I have
to ask.. How does it feel to win Ride of the Month for
February for the third year in a row!? SeaBass: Very satisfying, but I couldn't have
done it without the support of the people who voted for
me. So my thanks goes out to them.
MDSS: How did hear
about MDSS? SeaBass: Pat Thomas
MDSS: When and why
did you purchase the vehicle you have? SeaBass: September 13, 2005 from PFSupercars.
Since I was 16 and the RX7's were first released I've
always wanted one. It's been one of my dream cars for a
long time.
MDSS: What kind of
condition was it in? SeaBass: It was in mint condition, it had about
38,xxx miles on the odometer, the paint was beautiful,
it was awesome, too good a deal to pass up.
MDSS: Daily,
Weekend, show, or race car? SeaBass: First intentions of buying the car was
to race it. I've had it at the track several times, but
I think I'm going to start leaning more towards the show
scene. Can't blow out your transmission if you're
sitting still!
MDSS: What
modification on your vehicle do you like the most? SeaBass: Well it used to be the new bigger single
turbo setup, but it's really holding back the cars
potential. Right now I'd currently have to say my Tein
Flex Coilovers w/ EDFC.
MDSS: What is the
most expensive part on your car? SeaBass: Turbo setup
MDSS: What was the
last modification you installed on your vehicle? SeaBass: Single turbo
MDSS: What has given
you the most headache working on your car? (Part,
experience, shop) SeaBass: I'd have to say the turbo setup has
given me the most headache. Along with PFSupercars, I
love Rays work, he just takes a hell of a long time.
MDSS: How much of
the work have you gotten your hands dirty with versus
outsourcing to a shop? SeaBass: I've sent all my work to a shop, either
Extreme Motorsports, or PFSupercars. However, when I get
home that's going to change.
MDSS: Are there any
future plans for this vehicle? SeaBass: Absolutely! I have several upgrades
waiting for me when I get home from Iraq, such as new
rims (don't worry the old MazdaSpeed rims aren't going
anywhere) carbon fiber doors, hood, rear hatch and
spoiler. A set of defi link gauges, Electromotive Tec3R,
4.33 rear gears. Eventually all the removeable body
panels will be replaced with carbon fiber
MDSS: How long have
you been working on this vehicle? SeaBass: 2 and a half years, and I doubt it will
be finished any time soon.
MDSS: Are you into
the show or race scene? Or both? SeaBass: Into both really, I like to see what's
out there see what other people are doing with their
rides, show wise and performance wise
MDSS: Do have any
sponsors? SeaBass: Me, Myself, and I
MDSS: Are you a part
of a local car crew? SeaBass: Not yet, however, I'll be starting my
own crew when I get home to go along with my online
magazine that is currently in the works. I have a ton of
work a head of me that's going to keep me EXTREMELY
busy.
Shout outs:
Again I want to thank everyone that rocked the vote and
made it possible for me to take my third consecutive
title. I wanna give a shout out to my moms, for being
understanding and letting me turn her basement into a
Mazda junkyard. I wanna give a shout out to my brother,
who's been the lucky man in taking care of my RX7.
