Interview:

MDSS: How did hear about MDSS?
PhillyLS1: Unfortunately, through Riceademics or Mischief or whatever its called this week.

MDSS: When and why did you purchase the vehicle you have?
PhillyLS1: I bought the Camaro in May of 2004. I purchased it because of the potential of the LS1. The ease of modding it helped, and the low cost of going fast with a V8. I been down the small displacement road and the cost associated with doing it right was too rich for my blood.

MDSS: What kind of condition was it in?
PhillyLS1: I am the 2nd owner. The first owner was an old man from New York. It was in pretty good condition from the start. However mechanically, it was a different story. The previous owner never got the car over 45mph. So there was a good amount of carbon build up, and it ran rather poorly stock.

MDSS: Daily, Weekend, show, or race car?
PhillyLS1: Daily I suppose. I drive it to work at least2-3 times a week. Mostly to piss off the stuffed shirts at work.

MDSS: What modification on your vehicle to you like the most?
PhillyLS1: Short throw shifter. The trans has great potential, but GM cheaped out from the factory with the shifter. I enjoy rowing the gears and the way I have it set-up shifting is alot of fun.

MDSS: What is the most expensive part on your car?
PhillyLS1:The motor I suppose. However at this point it's the new blower I recently purchased.

MDSS: What was the last modification you installed on your vehicle?
PhillyLS1: ProCharger F1A

MDSS: What has given you the most headache working on your car? (Part, experience, shop)
PhillyLS1: STS Rear Mount Turbo System BAR NONE. The idea is excellent. But the kit and the engineering falls short from a quality standpoint. I appreciate what I learned from the experience, but I wouldn't wish that kit on my worst enemy.

MDSS: How much of the work have you gotten your hands dirty with versus outsourcing to a shop?
PhillyLS1: I've done all the work myself with ALOT of help from F-Body Central in Baltimore. They oversee all the work I do and make sure I do everything correct.

MDSS: Are there any future plans for this vehicle?
PhillyLS1: I am currently installing my new set-up. Cam, Trans, Rear, Exhaust and F1A ProCharger. Hoping for around 900-1000hp and hitting 9's with the 6-speed.

MDSS: How long have you been working on this vehicle?
PhillyLS1: About 4 years now. But periods of not being able to mod due to deployments to Iraq.

MDSS: Are you into the show or race scene? Or both?
PhillyLS1: I would say both. I enjoy car shows alot, but nothing beats racing.

MDSS: Do have any sponsors?
PhillyLS1: F-Body Central helps with my labor, advice and they let me use whatever I need to get the job done correct the 1st time.

MDSS: Are you a part of a local car crew?
PhillyLS1: No.

Shout outs:
Thanks to my girlfriend Krista (JerseyLS1). She lets me buy car parts instead of furniture. F-Body Central in Baltimore. Car wouldn't be anywhere near where it is at without their help. My parents and friends.
